Describe your object?
rusty motorcycle toy – found in the vacant lot behind my house on 4 Harrison St. in Newburyport, MA. The lot had an abandoned old machine shop and an overgrown railroad track, long forgotten, running thru it. Years later my father would buy that lot and build a new (1996) home on it.
Where is your object from?
Newburyport, MA
How is your object meaningful to you?
It represents a former sense of home and safety. My hometown has changed so substantially (blue collar to white collar) in my lifetime and the overgrown railroad is now a family-friendly “rail-trail,” and I have been priced out of my hometown.
How do you see yourself as an artist in your community?
as an enthusiast, a connector, and an empath
What is your hope for the future?
more listening and radical empathy – less borders
