The cowrie is a variety of shells. In Africa, it is used in time as currency, it continues today to be used as jewelry or objects of decoration. It is a very small porcelain (3 cm maximum), irregular and flattened, with a broad, very callous edge. The overall coloring is pale. The opening is broad and white, with pronounced denticles.

My object is from Lomé, capital of Togo
How is your object meaningful to you?
This object is a precious stone that symbolizes for me the strength and courage to face the difficulties of life. I often use it as decoration on my clothes.
How do you see yourself as an artist in your community?
I see myself as an artist in Niger through the realization of my works of art.
What is your hope for the future?
My hope for the future is to see Nigerien society take a positive look at Nigerien artists. The Nigerien society considers the job of an artist like all other trades.
